Dovepaw nodded."I only caught a scrawny mouse and a rabbit, hardly enough to feed the elders. Lets go back though, it's getting late." She meowed, looking up towards the dying sun."Catch me if you can!"She shot him a dashing smile, and took off, skidding down the tree.
Beetlepaw wobbled ungracefully as he hadn't totally caught his breath and jumped right off the lowest branch, a good ten feet above the ground, and landed on his feet. He stumbled tiredly in a loping pace, the best he could manage after his tree top chase. He gasped as Dovepaw ran off toward the camp. "I couldn't catch you," he said. "I was exercising."

Dovepaw giggled again. She stretched her elegant, long gray legs."Mm, try harder next time."She meowed, stretching gracefully.

"Hey, look, this beetle is black with red spots!" He sniffed it and frowned.
He thought it was weird this one cat was paying attention to him. Most females were scared away by his annoying characteristics.
Either way, he didn't care. He was showboating, it didn't matter the crowd.
"Here look, it smells goood." He said.

"What is it? A bug?"Dovepaw flanttened her ears at a bypasser who taunted Beetlepaw."Leave him alone!"She snapped, growling. She bounced over to Beetlepaw, curious. Another taunt. Another hiss from Dovepaw."Say it again I'll scar your muzzle!"

(Yeah a bug. I forgot to write that in my post.)
"Yup, a bug," Beetlepaw said. As he heard Dovepaw stand up for him he puffed himself up. He could take care of himself. "Well, I'm telling you, it smells reeeeeal good. Too bad you're missing out." He stuck out his tongue.

Dovepaw trotted close."Oooo! It's pretty."She tilted her head curiously, sniffing it."It smells....interesting."She told Beetlepaw.

It was actually very pungent. Beetlepaw laughed. But he hadn't got the usual reaction from his stinky beetle. She obviously liked him. But he was too young and naive to see the signs, or know what to do with them.
"Well, better go back to camp," he said. "I have important business there." He stuck out his tongue at the mocking apprentice and started to stroll towards camp, his long black and white tail swaying above his head.

"Oh really? Importent, Hm?"Dovepaw giggled softly, but a loud coughing turned her smile into a frown. She slipped into camp, Tigerpaw being led by Icepaw into the medicine cat den. Coughing exploded from the young Tom, his chest heaving, his body shuddering with effort.

{Tree}
The trees were already dark, because the setting sun was shrouded by the dense canopy. But the cats of Tree Clan were used to living in darkness, and Coldshard's eyes darkened further. He was used to living without the blissful happiness of Smoke and Maple and the darkness was so dark it darkened his dark mood ever further. His amber eyes were in the midnight zone, and even with a warm color, they were icy cold.
Just like his mood it was ironically reflected by his surroundings. The wind pierced his pelt, and turned him cold as the carcasses of lifeless squirrels in his jaws. He walked into camp and dropped the carcasses on the pile, brooding as he sat and waited for food, though he wasn't very hungry either way. What dampened his mood was the fact that yet again the cats from Smoke Clan had crossed the line. Not the border, but they crossed the imaginary line of too close to the border that he had made up.
Even worse, everybody was sick and SplashClan, well they actually did cross the border line, a common occurrence nowadays.

*Beetlepaw did the important stuff.*
This consisted of being caught by his mentor and being forced to help in the elders den.
He grimaced.
