Im at a loss of what to do... he kept all the younger drakes off my poor hens so they werent over bred, protected them. he was the mature male who taught all my young drakes a thing or two... my girls are going to be so lost without him... he has been with my first female muscovy hens since she was old enough to fly. Almost 3 years.

Thank you

And please dont anyone say "well they shouldnt be free ranging or in the road" I live on an old country road almost full of retired people. All I have are 7 scovies and 3 geese. They cross the two lane road from my house to the neighbors all the time or else they fly to it. we have literally HUNDREDS of canada geese in our yard/neighborhood everyday and none of them have been hit since i moved here 5 years ago. yet within a 2 month perion i lost both my oldest drake and my sweet young hen that held so much promise. I know its the risk i take free ranging but... i cant lock them up. They would be miserable.

I'm really sorry about your loss. It's so hard to lose a beloved creature in our lives...especially when it could have not happened.

Your ducks and geese must usually be a very happy bunch. They are lucky to have land to explore and such a loving caretaker.

I'm sorry about Gertrude, is there any way to keep them out of the road? This is the second one in a very short time you've posted about. I hate to find my birds bodies, it hurts very badly, I hope you feel better soon.
