My heart really goes out to you, I can tell that you really loved those birds. When I first read your thread I was heartbroken for you but as time has gone by I am getting more and more ticked at your predator!
I can tell from your description that you did your part on providing them with a secure run. Unfortunately there are predators (Black Bear and Mt. Lion) in your part of the country that will get to them not matter what if they are determined enough.
I just hope you plant that stinking predator (I still think it was a Mountain Lion) in the ground!!!! Once again, please be careful. I think you are dealing with a predator that given a chance, could do as much harm to you as you to it.
Hope you get some comfort in knowing that all of your BYC friends are with you in spirit.
