Just a short memorial to the passing of my Ameraucana hen.
She passed yesterday at the ripe old age of 6 yrs, 8 months.
She was one of my best layers, and it was always a treat to find one of her blue-green eggs.
She passed away during the night, nestled in her nesting box, ready to lay her 1400th egg.
R.I.P. ol' girl, you were a good worker.

Sorry for your loss. At least she passed peacefully in her nest. She's done well to live that long and lay that many eggs! She's earned her rest. I lost a araucana hen last month in unknown circumstances, she was only 5 months.

Oh man! My family was snookered when we lost a hen who was only 9 months old. How painful it must be to lose one you've lived with and loved for 6 years!!!

My heart goes out to you. I'm glad, in time, those memories will be happy again. Hang on til then.
