rabbit breed recomendations

Lops are cute but a lot of them are temperamental and aggressive, really any rabbit can be like that though. I would recommend going to a rabbit show in your area and talking to the breeders there, many of them are hobby breeders and would be able to tell you all about the lineage and breed temperament they've experienced with their lines. You could also contact a rescue and talk with them about each rabbit they have available.

I've been breeding for about a decade and I can tell you my best and sweetest pets have been mini rex and Netherlands dwarf rabbits, males tend to be more outgoing, females tend to be better at cohabitation, and a good mother will generally produce more affectionate rabbits while bad mothers make some of the meanest little snots ever.
I agree with this. My female mini lop is actually a lot more friendly and less temperamental. She also came from a good breeder. The male mini lop that we had. He was really good for a couple weeks letting us hold him, pet him, groom him then he started biting. Our polish male is the most friendly and he is great at showing, the easiest to take care of.

Before we had rex and honestly never had a temperment problem our first 2 were standard rex and then one had died. She was a black or blue otter. Id love that color again. So the next 3 we got were mini rex. Always sweet and never a bite or a scratch.

I have 10 Holland Lops now and I absolutely adore them. They are 2-4 pounds. They may be cuddly and friendly or stand offish depending on how they were previously handled. You would want to be able to interact with them before you purchase them to check the temperment. Make sure you have an appropriate and safe area before getting one. And most importantly you need to know that all rabbits have a very sensitive gut, so you need to be very careful when switching food and limit treats. Let me know if you have any questions, I am happy to help.
