Rabbit stole another doe's nest?

How are those Chin babies doing? Your does kindled around the same time mine did. I have a Chin doe, too, but this last litter was SFs and NZs. :bun

Thanks for asking! The first litter are the fattest, biggest babies... all active and wandering around now. The second litter are all smaller than I'd like to see them. I have a suspicion that the older litter has started mingling with them at feedings, because the nests were so close, so we are separating them and their mother today. It could also be that Chloe isn't producing enough milk, but until I separate them I won't know.

Glad to hear that they sound like they're all doing well! :celebrate

My Chin doe kindled for the first time a few months ago and, unbeknownst to me, her milk didn't come in right away. She lost 3 before I fostered her kits to another doe that had kindled at the same time. She was able to raise them after a few days of fostering, but it was difficult losing 3 normal kits like that.

I hope the smaller guys fatten up soon! Would love to see some pics if you can post some.

Aw, I'm sorry about the ones you lost. Even watching these guys like hawks, we missed one that we think was stillborn. The smell tipped us off to dig into the hay. :( Chloe actually had 8 total.

Here are some photos. The older litter moves alot, so was tough to get photos!

This is the younger litter. They're only 2 days younger, but about half the size of the others. :/

And the mamas. :)

I had two doe's due around the same time and they were in seperate identical cages with nest boxes after they had their litters (one had 10 the other had 2). A storm came through when the kittens were 4 weeks old and blew the cages over causing the doors to open. In the morning I went to check on them and found the cages turned over and all the rabbits gone. After searching the whole yard I found the two does and all babies behind a piece of galvanised iron leaning against a fence. It was weird because the does were unrelated and didnt get along but weren't fighting when I found them. The other thing was the doe who had the 2 kits ended up raising 2 of the other does kits as they started following/suckling her instead of their mum.
