Hey guys, I don't if any of you remember but I posted on here a while back about a disappearing rabbit. Well bad news, he ended up passing a while back. We think he may have had a heart attack because we've seen a snake outback a few time and it probably got to close to them. And him being the little he was he probably couldn't handle it. What was strange though was that there hasn't been and babies since. Last week though I noticed our doe pulling out her fur, so I decided to take some advice and I separated the male (the other female is still there). This Sat she was really plump and the next day it looked like she hadn't eaten in a week! Hopefully she had the babies and I'll see them running around soon, I can't tell because the floor of their cage is made of dirt and I'm afraid that if I step in the wrong spot out cave and crush them. Any advice you guys can give me so I can make sure these little guys make it?

So, my buck has a minor case of ear mites. Treated using tea tree oil diluted in a carrier starting today, and did the doe above his cage as well as the two older kits too. What I'm unsure of is whether to preemptively treat the younger 3 wks kits too, or just keep an eye on them. Any advice?

Im pretty new to rabbits. But all of mine have had ear mites. I used ear mite treatment for cats. Cleared right up. I wouldnt hesitate to use it on weaned kits

Put the rabbits in raised wire cages and use a nest box.

give a couple of drops orally of injectable ivermectin

When my rabbits have fur mites, I drip Ivermectin pour-on (for cattle) on the skin behind their neck. The dosage I use is the same as listed on the package/bottle, 1 ml/22 lbs. For my 8-9 pound rabbits, that is between .35 and .4 ml. I assume this treatment would work on ear mites, too. I'm not sure if I would use it on 3 week old kits, though. The dosage would need to be very small to avoid overdosing (although I've heard Ivermectin has a wide safety range).

One important thing if you're using Ivermectin: Don't use it on Dutch colored/Vienna Marked rabbits. They are apparently sensitive to the drug; it can be dangerous to use on them.

Hi,

This is probably silly but I have 3 does in a cage. They are all due this week but one doe is most likely not pregnant because she wouldn't let the male mount her. Anyway, my black doe was due Monday and one brown doe was due Wednesday. So there is only one nest box that's made with pulled hair and with hay. This was made by the brown doe on Tuesday. She pulled her hair out and put lots of hay in. And some babies were born on Wednesday morning. I just took the babies out of their burrows and looked at them and they're all black. So did my black bunny have kits inside a nest made by another doe? Will the brown doe make a new nest? Will the brown doe kill the black babies?

The does are all friendly with each other. Both brown does keep entering the nest box and not harming the babies and the black doe is just sitting in the corner all day, which is not like her.

I'm going to be posting this in the other rabbit thread, hope that's not an issue.

Thanks
