is this the place to talk about meat rabbits/rabbit meat? or is this thread more for pets?

on topic just bought a frozen rabbit today to cook up and eat, excited to see what rabbit taste like (only have eaten wild ones before) and if we like it then i guess am going down the rabbit path as well and going to be a rabbit keeper :)

Hey everyone! I am a lover of bunnies! :) I only have 1 bunny though, but I really bad want another one! My bunnies name is Flop, because when I got him his ear kept flopping to the side! :lau I will post a picture of him in a few, I just need to get a good picture first! :gig :lau

There are some threads on raising meat rabbits--just not as busy. I'd love to have discussions on cooking.
you got any good recipe's? my grandma wants to make a stew out of it (she has eaten a few rabbits wild and tame) but on the package it says there great BBQ. so am open to any suggestion on cooking of rabbit?

Not sure if this post is meant for meat discussion. I'm not saying either way, but most talk here is on pets and breeding for show.

Most of my rabbits seem to kindle on day 30-31. However with Hollands they aren't the best mothers... so winter breeding becomes *very* frustrating. I usually have to take extra measures to keep the babies from freezing. I actually have a box in my room right now with two 2 week olds... it's getting cold tonight so I'm bringing them in.

I would love to see this thread cover topics like this. Sustainability is important to me and I come from a family that hunts game, including rabbits. We dress and eat wild and are buddies with a large domestic rabbit meat supplier. I also raise heritage breed rabbits for conservation, but don't get me wrong they are adorable and I name all of them.

I'm fine talking about meat rabbits/rabbit meat. I used to raise Champagne d'Argents as meat rabbits, but switched over to smaller, less productive breeds (Mini Rex and American Sables). I can't remember the recipes I used, but the rabbit meat was good.

Then shall we say this--does anyone NOT want to see cooking discussions on this thread. I am all for the sustainability thing too which is why I started buns, and now my daughter will be getting a pet dwarf too, so I believe they can coexist. But I also don't want anyone to quit this very informative thread because they don't want detailed cooking when we could start a cooking rabbit thread and keep it active too.
