Had two litters born this morning!!!! One of six and one of four.

good luck. my lionhead gave birth to her first litter a couple days ago and the whole litter died thanks to late winter. i was so upset. when we bred her the weather was warming up but then it got cold again. we'll probably try again at the end of April.

Sorry about yours, that's always sucks.

Thanks. My rabbits have all been good moms, no matter the weather. The one who had six, her first litter was two and she had them on January 29th and it was around 26F and she weaned them both. It was down to 30F last night but she had them this morning. It's not supposed to freeze agian.

I didn't think 28 days ago we would have temperatures in the teens.... Looks like one of my first time Mom's just hit a homerun! Great nest, great milk production.... let's just hope that my other two pregnant does are just as savvy! Makes me nervous when they still haven't pulled fur....

Doe had a litter of 9 and kept 9... no real runts yet, although I'm sure a few will be smaller then the others. This is a record for my herd and I am SOOO happy that I have bred some great fertility and mothering skills back into this line! HOORAY! It took 2 out crosses, but it was so worth it!

So my DS decided to get rabbits. How old do the need to be to sex them and breed them? One is a dutch believed to be male the other is a cross between a giant spot and a dutch hoping its a female

People with a good eye can sex babies within days of birth. Some folks have to wait a bit longer. but you should be able to tell by the time they are a few weeks old - when you press in front of of that fuzzy bump under tail to expose the genitalia, the doe's vulva is v-shaped, the boy's penis is round. By the time a male is 3 months old, his testicles should be visible (though males are capable of pulling them back inside their bodies, the sac remains as loose skin).

Most breeds of rabbit are old enough to breed at about 6 months of age. With some of the giant breeds, it is better to wait until 8 months or more of age.

Incidentally, there is no breed of rabbit called a Giant Spot, and your doe doesn't appear to have the sort of proportions that suggest any of the giant breeds in her background, She looks like she might have a broken New Zealand in her ancestry, though.
