Raccon problem - do you have some solutions?

Yeah, we've been spray painting their heads with a day-glow orange stripe.

I am ordering one of the dog/cat proof traps listed in the 2nd or third post, above. Then if I have a raccoon that's too smart to go in the other trap, this one should work. A raccon in this kind of trap will have to be shot - no one I know will reach over to release the demon from that kind of trap!

A friend of mine here on BYC has offered many times to come over and shoot a trapped raccon for us - so I have a plan........

We have raccon-proof coops - what WASN'T raccon proof was the "nursery" run where the babies are. I was letting the babies out of the coop before going to work (dawn) and the raccoon(s) got them at that point. Twelve in one incident. It was then I decided to start trapping them...even though my coops are safe - I was ticked-off (I'd like to use another word here, but it will get me in trouble with the mods!).

I wish there was a smiley for shooting a raccon!

By the way..........how do you shoot a raccon in that trap (as I have pictured above in post #1) without damaging my trap????
