Raccon problem - do you have some solutions?

Good luck! I have been after one since the last of July. I now am about 30 chickens shorter. Everything I do to my chicken house (which is an old barn), he finds a way in. Last night I had 2 steel traps, 1 live trap, and a trap barrel. He got the bait but missed all the traps. They are so smart but I am not giving up. Tonight will be poison in the chicken meat!

If they would just leave our animals alone life would be much simpler.

If you can own a dog get one or 2 of these little dogs. They are a death squad. I have 3 and the pretty much eliminate any threats from ground or air and they don't bother the chickens. These will eliminate the small guys permanently and put the big guys (bears and mt lions up a tree) and they are cheap to keep.

Cougars like to eat JRT's and I've seen a few ripped up by Raccoons.
My Cattle dogs will tree a coon but they are trained not to attack them. I can't afford the Vet bills.

Electric fencing works the best and is the cheapest all the way around.

Kelly I saw this post this morning after coming in from taking care of a coon in my own trap. The dogs let me know he was lurking in the woods the past few nights. Hope you can get some sort of electric fencing around the area with the babies, or modify it so they can't get their paws through.

LOL at spraypainting their heads that's gotta ruin their day at the very least
