Raccoon attack HELP!!! Photos

There is such a thing as overdosing... The 40mg/once per day sounds much more realistic.

Another thing to keep in mind is that many antibiotics kill off the gut flora as well so it's a good thing to give her probios after you finish with the drugs. You can mix with some food that she will eat such as cooled down scrambled eggs or such (after cooking of course). Or there are types you can mix with her water (less effective IMHO).

Ok so have some not so great shots of the neck.
The front right flap

wraps around

under the flap is getting rinsed and sprayed with stuff but im not sure i can manage to get these feathers out. The flap is easily and inch deep so do i just let it dangle and air out or start wrapping it. I really need to get the feathers but its real tricky.

Then the back of neck is healing bit there is a constant crack because its in the bend

Overall the wounds are healing. Not festering. She even picked her own scap to reveal some healed tissue. i had to take a day off of antibiotics and today i barely gave her any because she definitely has loose stool. I have probiotics. I will be sure to add that in the plan. She isnt getting worse. Wish i could give her more than baby aspirin but thats better than nothing. Im picking up some pain signals for sure. She doesnt like being cleaned. I am sooo gentle about it

As a topical solution, you should be fine using it to help clean the wounds. Just not for internal use. Glad to hear that she's healing! Don't push her (or yourself) too hard... Her little body is doing all it can and it's working. You are helping her. This is going to take some time but from the sounds of it, she's doing well.

Great pictures! It literally looks like it gnawed on her neck, and by no means am I a chicken anatomy expert, but it appears all internals stayed together in their general vicinity.

The Microcyn is good for superficial wounds, like that crack on the back of the neck. But it does appear there is total skin loss in the front wounds so stay away from those parts. Overall, its looking good. Keep irrigating with sterile saline/water and continue with wet to dry dressings with a protective gauze wrap. The recovery will be lengthy for all the granulation to fill in and heal, but it will happen.

Vets have injectable antibiotics that slow release allowing continued effectiveness and saving you the trouble of having to crap things down animal's throats. As far as organs, the wounds extend deeper than "topical" or "superficial" but I see no apparent organ presentation. From the original pictures, I was concerned her crop may have been exposed, which may or may not technically be an organ, but it seems a sort of bird stomach to me lol.

Great job! Keep at it!
