One of my youngins was nearly pulled through her daytime enclosure. when attempting to drink the water pours out through the wound. And upon examination I can see from her neck out through the back towards her wing.

Anything I can do besides make her comfortable.

I'm so sorry. Please post pictures of the injury and let us know what treatment, if any, you've done so far. How long ago did this happen? The bird is likely in shock and needs to be treated for that as well. I hate this happened to your bird. You and your bird tonight will be on my heart ♥

This happened 2 days ago. The wound was not this bad. I have cleaned it with triple antibiotics and a small dose of low dose beyer for pain.

Sorry about your bird. If water is flowing out, she needs her esophagus repaired. Where exactly is she leaking fluid? Her crop or her neck? You may need to future it or close with superglue, possibly two layers (skin is one layer, esophagus or crop is a layer). She probably could also use an antibiotic, though I’m not sure which is best for these types of situations.

There is no skin on the neck it is hanging down so as I can see everything. Poor thing and bad me for not forward thinking.

Angry at myself.

I would strongly advise taking her to the vet if at all possible. I think she has a decent chance to survive and recover, though. I once nursed a pigeon back to health after it had taken a shotgun blast to the chest and neck, completely ripping open its crop. It made a total recovery within a few weeks. Birds can be remarkably tough like that.

She probably needs stitches or something to glue things back together. Can you take her to a vet? If that is an option for you, then I would highly suggest it. I would tell you how to treat her, but if you can literally see through her, then I don't know how sensitive she might be. @Eggcessive @Wyorp Rock @Overo Mare @casportpony I LOVE you profile pic by the way! Is that YOUR rooster! You should enter him in some online poultry shows! This is a good one! https://www.backyardchickens.com/th...-all-are-welcome.1413682/page-4#post-23258424

I would take her to a vet or ask a friend or relative who has medical experience to help you try to repair the esophaus or crop, whichever is damaged. If fluids are leaking out, she will not get water and nourishment. Some wounds may not be repaired, but I would rather it be done by someone with medical experience or farm experience at stitching or using super glue for wounds.
