Raccoon On the ROOF!!!!!!

We had one get on our porch and look in the window at our son asleep upstairs, he said he didn't put the screen in and thought he was going to have a bed partner. He would hiss and growl at it, and she would set up and look him over. . .liked the sound of hiss I guess. She did end up in our attic (

) and had three babies up there. . .talk about a mess. They are so good with those hands they can open anything, and what they can't open, they bite and tear open!!!

The relocating should not been done, most state it is illegal. But main reason is the spread of rabies 40% of rabies case in the usa are from raccoon. You dont have to kill them, but contact your DNR.

What would happen if you spread that disease. Thats the reason most state have laws you cant relocate, not to protect the cute raccoon.

There are two basic kinds of electric fence (and then variations)

One is to run one or more strands of electric fence wire around your existing fence (say one 6 - 8 inches off the ground, and another near the top.

The other option is electrified poultry netting 42 - 48" tall like this kind sold by these folks: http://www.premier1supplies.com/fencing.php?species_id=6

(I dont know or work for these folks, but I'm considering it if I raise meat chickens on grass next year)

I see strengths and weaknesses to both methods. Look at cost and your existing layout and see what fits your plan best.

PS: You could consider a solar powered charger for the fence too, might cost more to start but save $$ on the electric bill.

I am also having Raccoon problems, I was picking up some supplies for electric fencing at my local farm supply to put up an electric fence when they suggested (illegal method removed)
