i just trapped a coon last night - I put eggs, leading in, dry cat food and marshmellows also leading in - then UNDER the trap all the way inside - i put canned cat food. Worked like a charm ;-) The first couple nights - I had a can of tuna - it reached in and pulled the can all the way up to the switch and would eat it without setting off the trap - but dumping it out under the cage - they really have to get in there and get into it to get the food - wala!
Put peanut butter on a piece of bread and put it in the back of the trap. Also if the coon is a little to big for the trap(you will know this by the trap being closed and no coon inside meaning it could not close enough to lock so it just backed out) I will put a rock on the opened door for a little extra weight.
Would suggest jelly, marshmallows, veggies or fruit so you don't waste your time with catching the neighbor's cat. Be sure to stake down the trap so they can't flip it over
