Rain and Frizzles

Our scissor beaked chicken is a Black Star. She is super spunky. No one keeps her from her "grits". She has no clue anything is wrong with her. We named her Stella Bree didn't want her name to be bc if her beak. She's so spoiled and loves held. I found a vet here that sees "exotics". Stell now has an act with them, lol. Her beak is severe and she's had it trimmed 2x at the vet. She is 6 weeks old and putting on weight like a champ. Nothing slows her down. I got a "Hen Hydrator" nipple waterer system for her and her mush. She's special to us and she knows it. Shes our girl and is very lucky the breeder didn't see it bc the vet said he would have wrung her neck, you can't breed them and you don't want them leaving your hatchery. She has a loving family here who is willing to make accommodations for her.

Oh that is a bit bad, but as long as she can eat and drink she will hopefully do fine for you. She's lucky to have you as her keeper.

The vet said she will live a normal life with visits to trim the beak and keeping and eye on her for any changes. He said he mash was a good idea bc she was getting skinny. She doesn't seem to have any issues with water. She's kinda spoiled bc of all the care she gets. She will sit on your shoulder like a parrot as you prepare her food. Only to walk down your arm and start eating as you get it done. She will get what she needs to live as normal as a life as she can. She has no idea she's different from the rest. She chicken hoops them if they get in her way with food. Since they see now in the coop/run, I have 3 separate mash bowls set out so she can always have access to food in case others want to eat it and she can't get to it. She likes nothing more than to be held and rubbed on the back of the neck!!! She's a loved little baby.

It's very good you are her keeper. She sounds very happy and a joy to have. I'm so glad you could help her be more normal.
