I collect water for my garden in a 30 gallon trash can. This has been fine until last year when it was quite dry and the can went empty. This year I decided I would go bigger, so I got a 55gal barrel and set it up with a hose in the bottom and redid my downspout to work with the bigger barrel. We got a llittle rain a couple of days ago and the barrel was about 3/4 full and I messed around with it and used most of it.Last night we got a good soaking and the barrel was full and running over this morning, looks like I'm going to have to make an overflow into another barrel to catch more. This pic shows where I put an old eaves trough that I put under my downspout to fill a tote I wanted to clean. It doens't take much rain to fill this barrel.
