I got the last of the birds done for the year. I'm glad to see the end of it for awhile. It had to be yesterday because it is my assistant's only day off before Thanksgiving. So wouldn't you know, I woke up to pouring rain and howling wind just to add some excitement.

Any way 3 turkeys, 2 geese, and 4 ducks are now in the freezer. The turkeys didn't fit into the plucker very well and ended up with some hand plucking to do. The geese always need some hand plucking. My plucking fingers are sore this morning. At least nobody had any pin feathers.

2 BBW turkeys dressed out at 21 and 29 pounds. A Midget White turkey dressed out at 7 pounds. My Cornish Cross were bigger. The big turkeys were cut into parts and frozen and the little guy is resting in the fridge for Thanksgiving dinner.

Hi,

I, too, had rain for my turkey butchering day, too. Fortunately, it was warmish (in the high 50's) most of the day and we had a pop-up so we stayed fairly dry.

I butchered 9 White Holland Turkeys. It was my first year raising them and I'm a little disappointed because they didn't come close to the size I expected. The biggest was 12 lbs. They were 6 months old.
