Hi, thanks for joining us! What breeds do you have and what is your general location? If you got them all in June, you probably don't need additional heat in the coop as long as it is draft free and properly ventilated.

Could anyone tell me what temperature they keep there coop in winter?
Hiya, and welcome to BYC! :frow

We are in Wisconsin and it's been sub-zero temps the past few days. No matter, we keep our coop to 40F with a thin, oil-filled, radiant heater. In the temp/breeding coops, we have a Cozy Coop flat panel radiant heater in each of those.

For pasty butt on an adult, I have one. I keep his butt cut short with a kitchen scissors and ensure he/they all, get probiotics at least once a week. Probiotics I've used are powders in their water, like Hydro Hen, Save a Chick, or Durvet, but usually I'm fermenting grain so then it's just that. Yogurt is good too, like a tablespoon or so per adult of Greek is best.

Maybe you could trim or pluck the feathers around the vent if you haven't done that already. All the other suggestions are good, too.

I don't heat my coop in the winter. I live in north Idaho and it gets reasonably cold. Their cold tolerance might depend on what breeds you have, though.

Thanks for joining and welcome to BackYard Chickens!
