My chicks are two weeks old and currently we have been having a hot spell so I am questioning whether the heat lamp is needed now. It’s been 80 degrees and I don’t wanna cook them with it on although I’ve been turning it off during the day but at night I turn it on but it’s still hot in their shed.

I always get my chicks this time of year because often I don't need extra heat after the first week or two. So it's okay to shut it off if you feel they are done. After the 2 weeks mark chicks are better able to regulate their own body temperatures. Too much heat is worse than not enough.
