Raising Chicks

Food: there are many choices with feed.
You will need one that says, Chick starter and grower. It will be all crumbled up. You will need chick grit. They eat this ground up shell to help digest what they eat.
Bedding: Pine Flakes (Never Cedar, its toxic to chickens)

Ok. Thanks!
Do you perhaps have a link to a list of all the essential for chicks and adult chickens? Any tips or common problems to look out for when caring for chicks and chickens?

No. I wouldn't eat them. I'd raise them for eggs. What do you recommend for bedding? What do you recommend for food?
No, Roosters do not give you eggs. All they do is protect and mate with the girls so you have baby chicks.
So, if you got roosters, what would you do with them.
Thats the reason you will want a Sex Link chicken. Then you will only get girl chicks

There are two types of chicken breeds that have physical characteristics when they hatch that helps us determine if they are hens or roosters. These are known as sex link chickens and autosex chickens.
1. ISA BROWNS
2. RED SEX LINK
3. BKACK SEX LINK
4. RED STAR
5. BLACK STAR
6. GOLDEN COMET.
Most are sold by breeders and hatcheries under a brand name.
This way, you KNOW your getting all girl chicks.

Ok. Thank you. What components does a coop need? (EX: a door, a ramp etc.
