A coop must haves.
1. A secure door with a lock .
(Raccoon are perfected locked pickers)
2. A ramp.
3. Wire called HARDWARE Cloth.
4. Tons of Ventilation!!!
5. A 2 x 4 for them to roost on to keep their feet warm
6. 5 sq ft per chicken wiggle room while in the coop.
7. Coop off the ground
8. Nesting box or two to lay eggs in
(Can be on the outside attached to the coop)
Thats for starters
9. Window covering for bad weather
10. High Ventilation

Brown to light brown. They will lay one egg appox every 25 hours.

You will find eggs in Small, medium, large and XL sizes.
Look at the different colors they have in the Free range section of eggs. Those are mostly brown.
It will give you a hands on idea of the sizes.
Look at how much they cost compared to the little white eggs that are the cheapest.

How many chicks should I buy? I would like to have 6 or 7 when they are grown up. Should I buy 8 and budget for one dying or is that not a problem? You'll have too! You can't possibly Eat 6 eggs a day times 7 days = 42 eggs every week!!
