Raising Ducks?

I see the baby ducks for sale at our local TSC and have seen pictures of people that have a few ducks in their flocks, but I have always been curious what they raise them for? I know they lay eggs but is it the same concept of chickens? Do their eggs taste good? Or are they raising them for meat for later? I have always been curious, though I finally found a place I could ask!

I have Khaki Campbell ducks and I have raised them for eggs. People also raise ducks for meat. The duck eggs taste very similar, but you may notice a difference. The eggs are generally bigger than chicken eggs. The white of the eggs are also more solid, i.e., not as watery as chicken egg whites. My brother is allergic to chicken eggs, but we found out that he can eat duck eggs. So that is a plus for our family.

I would recommend posting further questions in the "Duck" section Anyways, they are similar to chickens. Their eggs are better for baking, but chicken eggs are better for frying. You can raise them for meat also.
