Raising Guinea Fowl 101

I have those now, they are locked in the Guinea Gulag. If they are lucky the 28 offspring of theirs in their from last year will not kill them...

I raise mine separate from the other poultry. The nice weather really has them wound up so every morning they let themselves out of their pen. Because there are a sufficient number to be a flock and they are not imprinted on the chickens and turkeys, they leave the other poultry alone. If the other poultry approach them while they are "escaped", they just move away from the other poultry.

It is so nice to not have them latching onto turkey wing or tail feathers and going for "sled" rides. My toms have beautiful tail feathers without the guineas bothering them.

No such thing as not troublesome guineas - at least in most cases.. I did have a pair of lavender guineas that I brought to Laos from Bangkok and they lived amicably with the chickens. Got lots of young from them.
My last pair were really troublesome and they had to be moved to their own pen. No more guineas for me.

I hatched my first keet today

when mine started hatching they started zipping got about half way around and POP out they came like popcorn.... Then the keet was flopping and flipping all over till it found its feet. Little fighters...

Lol. Mine tag teamed, one would start zipping and about the time it got 3/4 done the next would start than by the time the first was out the second would be almost done and then another would start. I kinda lost track of time.....
