Litter #2 is 75% NZW/ 25% Californian

When I had rabbits, I just had a sign by the side of the road. Sold a lot of meat rabbits that way. I also had signs on any bulletin boards I could find such as grocery stores, feed stores, laundromat, etc.

Well I just finished putting on the roof, j feeders, and water nipples on my hutch. I still need to make hay racks and buy some dropping pan trays. Im having a hard time finding trays, they are so expensive. Does any one have any ideas on how to make trays?

When I was starting out, I could not find any breeders that were willing to part with senior does. I have the book aND wanted to follow that plan but could only find kits to purchase and had to wait for them to reach maturity.

I got my New Zealand Whites from cross road rabitry. It was huge and the record's were impeccable. None of my rabbits where related , I bought one buck and three does. I also got my neighbor in on it and she did the same. None of them are related. I got them as kits. I waited 8 month's to breed them. Now I breed one doe a month. I also traded my neighbor one female kit out of the litter s out of each of hers and mine till, I got 7 does not related. As dose she. I get about 10 kit's on average now each month.from breeding one doe. I love it . My rabbits are friendly and I don't stress them out. I give them garden scraps and play with the breeding mothers daily. "Coxman" my buck is happy and not over worked.

i just aquired some meat rabbits. they are just for my dh & myself. we dont need to breed very often... how much rabbit can 2 people eat!
i am curious, since i am new to meat rabbits, what do you do with all the rabbits you produce? do you have a buyer? I live in Northern Idaho and alot of people have meat rabbits around me. i have not tried to sell them, even though i have some kits, that are about 2mo? I will add them rabbits to my CL ad and see if i can sell any.
my rabbits, ive been told, from another thread, are mutts, so i would like to buy another breed and start another line, kwim?

any suggestions from anyone is appreciated.
thanks

As to how much rabbit can you eat, how much chicken do you eat? Rabbit can be used in any chicken recipe. Years ago when I had rabbits I just put a sign by the side of the road. You can also put up a card at any place that has bulletin boards.

that is a good idea. i will probably sell a few to a young gal at our church. she came over today and bought some ducks from me. after i thin my herd i will start on a new bloodline. i have googled "top 10 meat rabbits" and can not make up my mind which to get, yet,
what do you raise? and why? just trying to learn from you.
i am enjoying our rabbits, probably too much, they are so cute and becoming comfortable w/me. luckily i will not be doing the culling. my dh does the deed, bit i will help w/the rest.
thanks

P.S. we eat about 1 rabbit a month, and about 2-3 chickens a month, beef about 3-4 x's a week, pork 2-4 x's a month, & fish about 4 x's a month.
and 1 rabbit takes us 2-3 nights to eat, same w/1 chicken. etc.
