Raising our New Zealand Meat Rabbits *Start to finish - Birth to processing* Possible Graphic pics*

We have a pure white NZ Buck. Pic later...sorry bad WiFi at the moment lol
He's 8 months old. Got an "A" for effort his first try with a girl lol but needed a 2nd round to properly finish. He's young tho and it was his 1st try (other than a stuffed penguin...shhhhh, we don't talk about the penguin)

Hi I have a male and female nzw rabbit. I can't tell if she's preg but she's eating heaps, losing fur throughout the pen and grunting. Her tummy doesn't look big though. Should I separate them anyway? She's about 7 months old. Help lol

My does are vocal and don't like the boys around. If MY girls are pregnant they refuse the males loudly with stomping and lots of noise lol but all girls don't do that. Fur pulling could be a sign but more than likely its from mating or tifting if they're caged together. My girls slow down on food a few days before birth, I did notice weight gain but not big old preggers belly ,so they hide it well. Then after babies come the girls drink tons and start eating a lot again.
If she is trying to make a nest get her a nestbox and separate the boy. Lots of hay and wait. Lol waiting...waiting sucks but if they're of breeding age and were housed together she my very well be. Most rabbits are 28-32 days of pregnancy.

Okay she still grunts and the male humps her heaps still even though they have been together for a few weeks is it normal for them to keep humping or is she just not mated yet. He also does it to her face. He's so inlove with her and always cuddles her. I just thought id leave them to it and figure it out but its really hard! Please exuse my terminology lol

My males hump anything. Lol and they're pretty nice to my girls...but I keep them separate. The females will sometimes continue to breed (lift) even if preggers, the males could care less if the girls are accepting or not. The male *may* stress her out when she's gonna kindle. I personally keep them separate so I can keep records on when/food intake/and stuff.

Another thing is the buck can hump to his hearts content but there's a weird kick and tip over he will do if he does it right. Sorta similar to when us humans do it right :gig

Mine were not doing it right when they 1st tried. I thought they were...then I SAW the kick and tip over :lau can't miss it!

I would separate them regardless. Constant pestering from a male can be very detrimental to a female's health.

Also, generally rabbits don't gain a ton of weight when pregnant, so she certainly could be and you would not know from just looking at her. It would be better to just separate them. If she's been with him a few weeks, chances are, she's pregnant.

Bucks can be a real pain; most of the people that keep bucks and does together do it in a "colony" setting with several does (so the pestering gets spread around) and lots of space so the rabbits can get away from each other. Does can get more than just verbal, they can get violent! A friend of mine had to give away a beautiful Fuzzy Lop buck after a cranky doe amputated his penis when he was "humping" her face - good reason not to just leave them together.
