it’s a month and a half old now and growing perfect however when it hatched its left eye was closed and to this day hasn’t opened fully but it’s still flying around and very happy!Make sure it stays warm enough. I set up a heat lamp in such a way that my peachicks can be under it if they want or can more away. Appropriate food and water. There was a great suggestions awhile ago and I'm afraid I can't remember who to credit. A water supply that consists of a small bowl, like cat food tin, filled with marbles or clean gravel, then with water. Peachick can drink without danger of falling in.
I found it helpful to use a stick to poke at food and water the way a peahen would to encourage it to eat and drink.
If I had a single chick I gave it a mirror and stuffy for company. Would you consider getting it a friend?
Enjoy it. It is amazing how fast they grow, and master running and flying skills. They would have me laughing everyday when they were free in the room for exercise.
yeah i’ve read in a face book group that the ib peafowl can sometimes be told apart from 3 to 4 months but as i’m watching the growth i think it will take a little longerI'm no expert but I think it takes a long time with peachicks to tell if it is male or female. You could try posting some pics at 6 months old to get some opinions. I have heard it can take until 2 years old to be sure but certainly stand to be corrected if I'm wrong.
