Raising Poultry in bear country

Notice in this photo he was more interested in the feeder then he was these young turkeys . He had already started to pull down the poultry netting on the top when I chased him . This was 10 minutes later when he returned to try again .
 
Bears are by their nature a bit lazy . Given a choice between chasing down your poultry or a 5 gallon feeder full of layer pellets , they will always opt for the easy meal and go for the feeder .
 
But if too many bear relatives come to feed, you won't be able to afford it. I think they would be more excited to get a big jolt from electrified fencing. Aren't they supposed to be hibernating this time of year?

They are hibernating . I started this thread because there were a lot of them coming around last summer and fall . Usually after the feeders . Yes electric fence works great on bears if you use a strong enough charger .
