Thank you for trying to introduce them tell me how it goesThanks for all the replies! I will work on finding a good way to introduce the chicks and perhaps save the rooster.
As of now, we do not know what type of pullets we will be getting. The rooster is some sort of easter-egger mix. He is on the smaller side and entirely black with an odd comb (perhaps pea or rose comb). How big is he and what breed and age
And what are the pullets and their breed
Have any pictures? As of now, we do not know what type of pullets we will be getting. The rooster is some sort of easter-egger mix. He is on the smaller side and entirely black with an odd comb (perhaps pea or rose comb).
Thank you for your reply! He is a couple years old by now, so he is not as crazy for the hens as when he was younger. I will probably end up trying to introduce them in separated pens to make sure he isn't going at them through the fence.Whether or not your idea will work depends upon the temperament of the rooster. Some mature roosters are absolutely fine around pullets and will not start courting/breeding until they are ready to lay. Others are quite different. You can give it a try, but have a plan B in mind. It is highly unlikely that he will fight the pullets.
