Years ago I raised 3 chicks from little babies to around 4 years old. I bought them for eggs but they became best friends like my dog.
We lost all of them one night to a group of raccoons and I haven't had the heart to raise more until now. A random chicken flew into my backyard and has refused to leave. She gives me about 4 eggs a week and is very friendly.
I bought two more chicks and tried to introduce them to the hen but I realized they need to be much bigger before I can introduce them.

Can anyone identify what breed the chicks or the hen are?

The hen looks like an Andalusian! We had a blue Andalusian for a long time and she looked just like this but with different colors. The comb, wattle and ears, body type were identical! Not sure about the chick, though!
She does look like a Blue Andalusian. Thank you. She is so sweet and loves sitting in your lap getting attention.

Welcome to BYC, John. Have you built a secure coop & run?
I think in going to try to keep my hens outside of a coop this time. I put up a 8' closet pole 6 feet off the ground for the hen and she sleeps on it every night.

My other chickens were in a coop where they were slaughtered after the raccoons ate through the siding.

It doesn't freeze here or get over 100 degrees. My older chickens ranged my neighborhood during the day after I let them out in the morning. They never failed to come home at dusk.
