Ran out of Chick Feed help!

I ran out of chick feed today and due to the holidays everyone here is closed. Can I mash up some plain Cheerios to get through the night or will this cause them to get sick? They are about 5 weeks old right now.

I think that would be fine, definitely mash it like you said. Otherwise it might get stuck and do more harm than good.

Corn will also tie them over. Frozen corn thawed would make a nice treat for them. You could also get bird seed, sunflower seeds or even that generic bird mix (with millet, etc.) can be found af the grocery store usually and would then serve as a welcome treat for them once you have food again.

If it's only overnight, and you're getting feed tomorrow morning, then they're fine going without. My chicks don't eat while they're under their mothers at night.

As stated above, it’s not exactly a dire need for just one day. They will be alright until you can get to the store.
