Not recent, but one I'll always remember...
When my son was about a year old, our area was hit by a huge snow/ice storm. Obviously, store shelves were bare of essentials, with many of them closed. Expressways were even closed locally, so it would be days before restocks. We were out of milk (we'd just moved to the area, and weren't familiar with the mass store rushes that occurred before big storms). My (ex)spouse walked to a convenience store that was open, but of course they had no milk. He was talking to the lady who worked behind the counter about where he might find milk for our baby son, and she went into the back and came out with a gallon she had put aside for herself and her family. That act of kindness and generosity has always touched me.
I love reading these stories!
