This bird showed up in the yard Friday. Seems to want to be in coop with my chickens. I do not know as of yet who keeps these around me. If I can get her in the coop for safe keeping, should I?

Well, i'd contact anyone who keeps peafowl in your area first.
I'm not sure if you should keep her with your chickens since i have no idea how well peafowl coexist with chickens, but it may work out ok.

I had peacock appear in my yard in March. Nobody claimed him and I wonder how far they can fly when motivated?

I can hear peafowl up the road from me. Theres a guy that keeps various birds for his little tourist trap. Its a nice place, but he has peafowl....only thing is though, they live about 3 miles from me, but I keep hearing them up on the hill just across the road. I would love to have a male one, but i dont think I would know how to keep one in winter around here. It gets COLD!!

I haven't heard any around here. None of my neighbors have anything other than chickens as far as I can see. We are sort of spread out around here. I don't want to keep her if I can find the owner, but she isn't bothering anything by being here. Going to be difficult at best to catch her.

. Wife will call a neighbor that knows most of the people this end of the county and see if he knows anyone that keeps them. I am not usually home during respectable calling hours. She has been fine in the yard and under/on my Suburban since Friday.

Hey oldchick, is she still with you?
Oh yeah, she is a he, and the hubby and I enjoyed having George come to work with us.

He was quite the mechanic.

Unfortunately he wandered into the wrong yard and had a disagreement with .22 and ended up with a fractured leg. However, he survived the injury and hospital confinement, and is doing well despite not having full use of his leg.

He now has the deluxe suite at Chuckling Chicken farm.

He's now camp counselor for egg-eating hens.

Thanks oldchick. Nice bird. Hope he loves his new accommodations.

She is still hanging around, and with the county fair going on, the neighbors are difficult to contact. Still trying to find her owners.

Seems to be doing well just out in the yard.

'camp counsellor' too funny!!! Congrats!!
