Thank you! We have 6 feet tall fencing on all sides of our yard so I was wondering if someone dropped her over our fence. None of our chickens have been able to fly over the fence. She looks close to a lavender Orpington, but has diluted gold leakage on the hackle. So perhaps an Orpington mix. Difficult to say.
I kind of doubt that she's a great flier. She probably got lost while free ranging.
That's happens to me, but usually they drop roosters over the fence. Who knows, but she's pretty. I would look for the owners and quarantine her in the meantime so she doesn't spread a disease or parasites to your flock. She looks healthy, though.Thank you! We have 6 other hens, we tried to catch her several times but couldn’t get near her. I wanted to catch her so we could separate and quarantine her. She somehow flew to the roof of our coop around dusk so I thought maybe she was going to hop the fence and go home but this morning she was still with our chickens. She actually looks like her flight feathers have been trimmed on her right wing. Do you have other chickens?
We have asked immediate neighbors and she does not belong to them. We do have a lot of loose roosters/chickens in other areas of our community that people let roam the roads but that’s mostly on the other end of town so it’s possible she wandered over and somehow flew the fence. She managed to fly onto the top of our coop last night which is about the same height as the fence. We are trying to catch her but she doesn’t let us get close to her and she is fast. We are keeping a close eye on everyone to make sure there are no squabbles and will keep trying to contain her so we can quarantine, although she has already been out with our chickens all day so they’ve likely already been exposed if she has anything. That's happens to me, but usually they drop roosters over the fence. I'm surprised she can fly so high at her size. You've done the best you can. Quarantining is a precaution. Not doing it doesn't mean there will necessarily be a problem. We have asked immediate neighbors and she does not belong to them.
