I hope everyone who reads this contributes to the thread! I will be posting random chicken related facts once in a while. I'll start off with this. Franklin D Rosevelt had a pet one legged rooster.

I have a sussex that lays duck sized double yolkers. I can only imagine how massive 9 yolker would be. Unless they were small yolks and packed in there. I'll have to research..

8. Chickens can be hypnotised

The most common method of hypnotising a chicken is to hold its head against the ground and draw a line along the ground with a stick, starting at the beak and moving outward in front of the chicken.

If this is done properly, the bird will continue to stare at the line for anywhere between 15 and 30 seconds without moving. Scientists refer to this phenomenon as a state of ‘tonic immobility’, which is a natural state of semi-paralysis some animals enter when faced with a threat. It’s thought that it originated as a defence mechanism similar to ‘playing dead’.

I used to hypnotize my chickens until I found out that they aren't really hypnotized, they just think that they are about to die : ( It is cool tho and it helped me with a lot of chicken checkups
