my husband found one of our easter eggers dead today in the coop. she was about 1 year old and seemed otherwise healthy as of this morning. there were no peck marks or anything on her, it was like she just sat on the roost (we have a plank of wood, not a perch) and died. has anyone ever heard of this happening? i am just worried that it could be something the other chickens could catch. any input would be appreciated!
thanks!

Sometimes they just die, with no apparent cause. She could have had a weak heart, or lungs, or some other defect. Keep a close eye on your other birds, watch for bubbling at the corner of the eye, difficulty breathing while roosting at night, foul odors around the head area, listlessness, not eating or drinking, loss of weight, etc...

If your other fowl are happy, healthy, and active, it was probably a fluke incident.
