Rant about police- Update- Dismissed!

I don't speed and with 3 kids I try to drive as safely as possible. I have never gotten a ticket. But for some reason I seem to be a cop magnet. I have been pulled over at least 10 times this year! Probably 5 of those were in a 4 day period when I bought an old Jeep from my in-laws. I bought it on a Thursday and was pulled over in it the day I got it(it was insured before I left) for no tags. I got pulled over 2 times that Saturday less than an hour apart on the same trip, once on Sunday, and once Monday on the way to get the tags! I am NOT joking! Come to find out apparently they were looking for a jeep that vaguely fit mine's description. The rest of the times were stupid things like a warning for a blown brake light. One even turned around to chase me down in my dad's driveway because my liscense plate was mounted on the tailgate of our old work truck and he told me that he didn't see it is why he pulled me over! He was nice about it and laughed about having bad eyes but I think that was because I had both my kids and was 3 days overdue with my third and he felt bad about scaring me. (which he did, I didn't know what was wrong when he whipped up behind me in the driveway). That and everything he ran came up clean and I hadn't been speeding may have had something to do with it! I guess they are just doing their job.

DW went to court today and fought the ticket. The prosecuting attorney talked to her about it before it ever went before the judge. She established two things- 1) that it wasn't physically possible to attain the speed she was accused of at the point in the road that he said she was and 2) that the speed limit was not posted. She took the video camera with her with the footage of the road showing that it wasn't posted on either side of the road. The Prosecuting Attorney dismissed the speeding charge. I am glad that he did, but I'm still annoyed that we had to go through this in the first place. It was garbage to begin with. I'm also still annoyed that this officer sat in my driveway with his lights going like there was something crazy going on at my home when it was a speeding ticket and he was off the road.

They like to park in front of my house to catch speeders. I'm going to watch for them and drive 50 up and down that road the next time I see them parked there. I'm hoping it will give me a chance to point out that the speed limit is not posted on that road. What he told me in my driveway was a complete falsehood.

I had highway patrol pull me over for not having my headlights on when I had just passed about a 1/4 of a mile up a sign that said to put them on for safety. I didnt dispute that I didnt have them on ( it was broad daylight but a two lane road) I just didnt realize it was an infraction.. thought it was just a suggestion) I just hadnt done it yet. The part that p'd me off was that the CHP assured me it was only a $30-$40 ticket and no big deal his supervisor just wanted to make people more aware. Well it came in the mail a couple weeks later and
was a $300 fine! What really irks me is if they wanted to make people more aware, then
do one of those roadblocks where they slow you down and say "were you aware" All he did was make others think I got pulled over for something else as I counted 25 cars going by while he was writing my ticket without their headlights on. All he did was add to Placer County coffers... I drive that road maybe once every 10 years so all it taught me was that this guy didnt even know what he was talking about as far as the fine

and lose respect for
law enforcement.

Buster, glad you won yours.. they wouldnt let me bring up my concern at court, I had to write a letter to the officer's supervisor and I never heard anything back.

Exactly. The default limit is 50- not 40. She wasn't driving over 50 mph. And the officer was adamant when I asked him where it was posted 40 that it was posted on both ends of the road.
