RANT: Kinda ticked at the Humane Society

It is a very pretty cat. It was a bit skinny so I made sure it got food and water before I went to the humane society. I didn't check if it was a boy or a girl, because the poor thing was sooo scared and I didn't want to mess with it too much.
I suspect someone dumped it. I really do live in the middle of nowhere
Orange tabbies are normally boys, so that may be a safe bet.

With only a single photo to go by, he looks like a clean and healthy boy and reasonably calm; maybe a stray, but not your typical feral.

It sucks that the local humane society wouldn't take him. You did the right thing and they've made the whole situation more difficult for you and the cat. If his owners are looking for him, unless he's microchipped he's unlikely to be found at the rescue 90 minutes away.

Depending on the level of effort you're willing/able to go to, posting some signs about town with his photo and your contact details could reunite him with his family.

That would be difficult because if he ran away he would of had to travel around 12 miles from the closest town. We do have an Amish community about 8 miles from us.
Here is the only other pics I have of him

If he's 12 miles from town and none of the neighbours know about him, he may have been dumped then :( . He looks scared, but not completely threatened like other ferals I've seen.

Yea, I figured he had to have been dumped. He does look alot better in the pics then he did in person. And he was just so scared it broke my heart.

If you're only out of pocket the cost of a Chinese lunch and it finds him a loving new family, that's a fantastic outcome!

As long as he's not sick, it's a safe bet that he is gonna get a home.
