RANT: Kinda ticked at the Humane Society

He's a pretty cat, unless he's psycho he will be very likely to find a home. He doesn't look psycho, just trying to figure out why he's in a box and a bit bent about it. I have an adopted feral, he's a really good guy with a heck of a personality.

Believe me if I could have afforded the vet bills I would have kept him. My cat is better at guarding my chickens than my dog.

World of difference in how they portray themselves when soliciting donations and the way they really operate.
When you bring in over 100 million a year I guess your definition of "humane" gets blurred.

Beautiful cat, where I live I swear people just dump animals in my neighborhood. The shelter is located the next town over and constantly posts photos of dogs and cats on a Facebook page and most go unclaimed and end up getting adopted. I would have him scanned for a microchip.

Oh and an FYI for anyone with pets tractor supply does microchipping at their Sunday clinics. My vet wanted to charge $65 for my cat, and tractor supply did it for $15.

Local humane society was shut down because of abject corruption. I think that some of the restrictions on 'adoption' are used to guarantee maximum populations and donations to upper level salaries.

this might have been mentioned already, but just an FYI that the "Humane Society" (HS) and the "Humane Society of the United States" (HSUS) are NOT the same organization

The HSUS is a lobbying group that trades in misleading advertisments, etc. Here's a link I found when googling just now that explains it a bit more:

I am going to be the turd in the punch bowl by saying this but.... You baited and placed a trap, and caught a stray cat. Why take it to the animal people? Why do you assume a cat needs rescuing, and why do you assume the shelter people are the solution. Certainly put it out of your own sight and mind. Assuming a cat needs "rescuing" was your first mistake. Taking it in to those people was number two. What did you expect? Let the damned thing out and on it's way and you would have avoided a lot of ass pain. The shelter is the place we take unwanted animals but the humane society is more likely to kill it than any other group I can think of. You did that cat no favors. I am sure this will not be a popular opinion.

That is true. My wife suffers from the affliction of automatically assuming that any animal she sees outside needs rescuing. Open that trap and the cat will just go home.
