*Rant* Rude people and their dogs

Yes! It sounds like you are young enough to be around my daughter's age & perhaps it would be safer if you could take someone with you when you are out taking pictures. Maybe a photography "buddy" from your class? Or maybe a very strong "ranchhand" from your father's ranch? It's a sad commentary on these days that one would need to do that though, I know, but your safety is more important than anything. I'm just a Mom talking, now!! Can you tell?!

Thats why I didn't confront him. If he didn't care about his dog. Then his character didn't seem very good. And it didn't seem like the kind of person I wanted to be alone with.

Oh well. Next time for sure I will call the park. I didn't think about that. I have a personal cell phone number for one, and he would of been out there in a second. Wow. Why didn't I think of that before. I'm so blonde.

ETA: I don't really feel threatened being alone. I live in a fairly small town. So it's not a huge issue.

Haha. Dads ranch hand.

It's my farm. I am the ranch hand.

Yes chickens4me, it was the mom in me coming out as well. Wonderful advice to her on the "buddy system" as well. Young people, but young women in particular just can't be too careful these days.

first thing you do is lock your doors. start your car, make a phone call to the authorities, grab the camera and start clicking away, dog owner dog doing damage.
this way you have proof of what happened in case insurance co wants proof.
second all photos are legal proof in an investigation.

taking pictures of the SPO and dog might smarten him up enough to get the dog into training.

You will encounter alot of people in this life, missy,

and a few of them will try to take advantage of you. Stand up for yourself, always. "Being nice" is over-rated. If someone is being rude, they don't deserve your consideration!

Glad to hear you are safe.

I think I would have taken pics of the dog up on my car snarling at me through the windows. Maybe the flash of the camera would have alerted the owner to stop being an A-- and start paying attention to his dog's behaviour. What a creep. Glad you are safe and sound, next time make sure to call for help.

well as the owner of dogs I can say that the shepherd was just doing what dogs do... investigate noises however...

The owner... hello??

Firstly, perhaps he wasn't expecting someone else in the park at dark but when the dog went for you he should have caught up to the dog as quickly as possible, obviously a dog that size can run much faster than the average Joe

Letting the dog swin with a leash on?.. what if it got caught on the bottom?

Letting him jump on the car and terrorize you...? Sorry, if my dog I would have called off the dog taken him by force if need be.

I certainly would have draw the line on not calling cops when the jerk ignored your calls to him! Inexcusable. I detest irresponsible animal owners

I think I would have made a doggy pancake. You've gotten lots of good advice here with taking pictures, taking note of liscense numbers, taking a buddy. I just wonder how dangerous the guy was, or how stoned, to allow this all to happen. This is not a normal situation, and that makes me thinks scary.
