For Mothers Day my wife got :

2 cards (one bought, one hand-made) from our daughter.

1 dozen pink roses, she bought for herself.

1 necklace she also bought for herself with daughters help.

1 box of Payday candy bars she bought herself.

1 dinner she also cooked by herself, but we helped eat it.

See: I did not buy her one single thing. Not into that anymore.
She can have anything she wants, but she better go get it herself.

I don't love her more on this day that any other day. She knows that.
I'm not very good at birthdays, Valentine Day is for the young, and Christmas
is all too material.

I don't love her just on holidays.

On the other hand, I did get my own Mothers yard cut, flower beds cleaned
and ready. And yes, she got a card.

Happy mothers day. Next year make a day for yourself. Get up early, tell them that you are leaving, and treat YOURSELF to a day that you want and deserve. It will be a learning process for those that you love who also love you.

I'll back up and say this. My wife's mother, my mother in law, has been
gone thirteen years. Passed away in 1998.

One of the odd things I kept was her bed pillow. Still smells just like her
perfume. Keep it put away. For a long time even my wife didn't know I
had it. But at times, I know Barb misses her mother...and she gets to sleep
with the pillow.

And I'll put it away again.

Tonight she gets the pillow.
