Considering how exaggerated the "abuse" of the chickens seems here, I'd hesitate to take this about the boy at face value. I have myself given my kids a plastic bag to hold ABOVE their heads in the rain when we couldn't find an umbrella. A quick dash to the car, etc., in the rain using this as a cover is hardly endangering them. I suspect this may be a similar occasion, especially since someone deprived of oxygen goes pale/ashen then blue unless their blood flow is constricted (choking). A bag over the head would not restrict blood flow or produce a flush to the face. Perhaps the red face was from something altogether unrelated, such as chilled skin if the weather was cool.
