You have my sympathy. I also feel the same way about pampas grass and wisteria. It just never ceases to amaze me that some people will actually purchase and plant certain things.

Staghorn sumac grows wild here (and I *hate* it because it grows up from underground and tries to take over the lawn). Some people put it in their yards and trim it so that it grows like a tree.

It took a friend of mine years to eradicate bamboo he planted...it would even persevere through hacking and being burnt. Hopefully you can get rid of all of the yucca so you don't have to deal with this headache again.

You are killing a natural resource that might someday come in handy.I have a bunch planted all over.Great drought tolarent plant.I try and plant things that have a use or edibel and found out about the uses for yuccas.
Yucca leaves have strong fibers suitable for weaving and other uses.

How to Make Yucca Root Shampoo

Yucca roots have been used by Native American tribes for years to prevent hair loss and dandruff while making hair shiny and beautiful. Yucca root makes a great shampoo and soap because it contains natural saponin which is an all natural detergent that softly lathers when agitated with water.

This one grows tiny extremely strong finger roots off the main trunk.

The ones that grown an edible root have to be something different. A friend of mine was willing to drive up a few hundred miles for the roots, so I have been looking (said to be like a south american potato)

Trust me, NOTHING that looks even slightly edible has been dug up. The center of these beasts are more like palm trees than anything else.

It has layers of trunks 8' by 4' and was about 20' high at one time. The flowers are pretty.....the rat holes under and in them (rat took off mid day on Monday) not so pretty.

Last year I paid almost $100 for a large Wisteria trimed as a small tree. In ny it is very slow growing, with amazing flowers.
