Do you dunk it or eat them together?
Never together that would be barbaric.

Do you dunk it or eat them together?
I was tempted to post something, but I try to refrain from these arguments. I'm not a vegan, so I don't belong on vegan blogs. Judging by the passion the author uses in the article, it would be futile to discuss the matter. This person's mind is made up. If a person wants to be a vegan, that's their choice. It's an extreme lifestyle, IMO. I was a vegan in college for a while. I grew tired of it quickly.
I eat meats, eggs and milk. Yup, animals will die and suffer for me -sorry. If a vegan lives in a house, does all the natural flora and fauna where their house was built not get destroyed? Every worm, insect, mouse gets killed or displaced..... A person is foolish if they think that they can live on this earth without harming some kind of life form.
I better stop. I could go on and on and on........![]()
I think you said it very very well and let me add , going Vegan is not an option for some people I am talking about folks who live with ESRD (End stage Renal disase) Their diet is regulated to control certain nutrients that the body cannot properly dispose of the normal overflow the normal way.
for example:
Phosphorus :It's a healthy mineral as long as your body can deal with the overflow Folks with ESRD cannot and some of the richst source are found in dried beans and peas as well as nuts arent these sources of protien for our vegan neighbors? Right now the only beans I can safely eat are greenbeans phosphorus is not cleared from the body by dialysis so with every meal take what is called binders.binders block the absorption of phosphorus and allows the body take care of the matter.via another way. too much phosphorus can cause bone diseaseand deposits of calcium deposits in your heart, eyes and joints as well as blood vessels, On top of that too much phosphorus can cause a maddening ich
Potassium potassium is mainly plant source and is necessary for proper muscle function (like your heart) Too much can cause muscle aches and weakess and altimatlt death
Luckly it can be dealt with dialysis and reduced consumption of potassium rich foods ie bananas, citrus fruit and certain vegetables like tomatos.
Protein we are encouraged to eat fresh meats fish and eggs these foods do have phoshorus but have other nutrients we can't get any other way.
Another matter needs to be addressed so many people are what I would call trapped consumers. They cannot raise there own chickens becausr of local regulation and afford the higher prices for the healthier organic and free range products. we need to deal with this.I beltve boycotting all eggs will do more damage to organic producers brfore they affect the factory farm.

stuff we gt rid of
She just peeled off a square at a time, laid it on her tongue and chewed...piece by piece.................you'd think it would really need some sort of dunking....so dry !Two ply or single? Scrunched or folded?
Looking over the author's story a few times and reading your posts has lead me to believe that pretty much all of us on BYC that raise free range and grass fed farm animals are in fact, having our own "Sanctuary".I read the link. The author is campaigning for the better treatment of factory chickens. Whilst she acknowledges that free ranging is a 'step in the right direction', she is suggesting that people who support her campaign stop buying all eggs in order to bring pressure to bear on producers. If I were to comment on her blog, I'd say that free range egg producers who treat their chickens humanely would also be disadvantaged if her campaign were to become well supported. She might gain more support if she wrote as much about the humane producers as she has about factories. On the other hand, that wouldn't be so dramatic, would it?
'Free range' conjures an image of healthy chickens running around in green fields and happily sacrificing their eggs and their lives for the benefit of grateful humans. Larger commercial 'free range' businesses probably treat their chickens in exactly the same way as the factory farms except that the birds have a bit of space to walk around in. These businesses must be ruthlessly efficient, treating animals like objects, if they are to make profits and survive. That won't change unless everyone pays a lot more for eggs from big businesses. In the meantime, those who would eat eggs but want them from well treated hens can produce their own or buy them from a place where they can look at conditions for themselves.
My son used to have a bumper sticker on his car that said:I am not a vegan because I am not in to green teeth and orange lips.

So that author is , in fact just trying to get herself a free farm, don't you think ?
Seriously, she is trying to raise money to buy land so she can humanely raise animals...isn't that what we all are already doing ?
We, of course had to BUY our land.
And our animals.
And their feed and healthcare products, barns, coops and pens for protection against predators (how inhumane is predation ????) so why can't she just buy her own like the rest of us ?![]()
Some people can reword an issue to make it sound so special, and gallant, a mission to save the animals !
people will come in droves to throw their money at her !
We just call it a small farm![]()
You make a very good point. However, she will run into huge problems because she won't manage her animals as farmers do.
I see that a large number of comments has now appeared on her blog.
