Rantings to stop eating Free Range eggs~ please respond !

I find it interesting that Catherine has pets. She says that she will not use animals for her enjoyment, yet I bet she plays with her pets and enjoys that. She is preaching about something that she does not follow. At least in ladyrsanti's cousin's case, she gave away her cat so that she is following her extreme views.

If Catherine really wants to follow her extreme ways, she should be asking for money so she can humanly euthinize all the animals in the world.

In another note, technically plants come from a mother. Even in elementary school, we were taught some plants need a "mother" and a "father" to germinate and product new plants. There has also been many studies over the years that have come to conclusion that plants can feel pain. If that is the case, what do the plants feel when a farmer chops them up with a grinder, or when a backyard grower pulls them up from the ground by their roots, or cuts off a "limb". Would it then be the same as if we were throwing baby chicks in there?

Right, there is no perfect way for humans to live without harming other animals. But that is not a good reason to just give up all together. I'm not saying she's not crazy, but the arguments against vegetarianism that involve pointing out minute hypocrisies are frustrating to say the least. That's like: well you might as well kill people cause you do other bad things on accident. Not a valid argument.

Can you produce one of these studies? Plants lack a nervous system and a brain, so I find that highly doubtful.

People, even the most extreme of vegans know that living without harming animals is impossible. They just try to do the best they can. Again in a religious comparison, Jesus said that no one is without sin, Christians strive to minimize their sins and do the best they can. Veganism, in this extreme case, is very like a religion; those following try to do the best they can to avoid injuring or killing animals.

You can disagree with the extremity of the view, but to nitpick and said it cannot be done is no better than saying someone shouldn't try to live a Christian/Moslem/Jewish lifestyle.

I have to run to work, so I'll pull one up later. However, one of the first instances where someone suggested this and research was:

The Principles of Morals and Legislation (1789), Jeremy Bentham

There is talk of implementing a contraceptive program in that area of the Bishnoi people to control the population as over population threatens the core of thier environmental beliefs being able to continuing in the modern age.
That said, the entire world needs to do some serious contraceptive measures.
A very inconvinient truth that alot of people refuse to notice.

I might have agreed with you a few days ago when I thought that vegans were no more than extreme vegetarians. Look, though, at Catherine's list of do nots and read on her blog how strictly she interprets them:

http://startananimalsanctuary.com/about/

It seems to me that buying live animals from a food market and giving them a home is against the rules of veganism.
From my point of veiw (of what Catherine would think) of the 'rescueing turtles' what was done was continuing the fact that the seller did make his profit and nnow will continue to get turtles to sell...........
If he had no one buy turtles, he would thus have gone on to selling some other peoo helpless creature; humans in some parts of the world are so selfish and poor, and in many ways over populated to the point that they will exploit any animals in order to survive......sad.

There you go. Kevin is vegan but keeps pets. So vegans do not necessarily have to take the business to extremes. Catherine, despite having pets herself, would probably wag her finger at Kevin and adjust her hemp corset if she knew he 'used' animals.

People with low self esteem can easily adopt a creed of some sort and take it to extremes. It might be diet, politics, religion, racism or almost anything you care to name. They gain a sense of self worth because they can set themselves above others. Ladyrsanti's friend who demonstrated to others the wicked ways of grilled meat fans is an example, I suspect. The same people gain self image by learning about something of which most others are ignorant. It need only be obscure and need not be worthwhile in a practical sense.
ha ha I love your posts !
Hemp Corset indeed !!!

I have a few thoughts that have sprang into my mind over this whole thing....
One is the subject of vegetarianism, as what if so many DID go vagetarian ?
What would they use to fertilize the millions of acres of produce that would have to be grown......................??????????????????????

and Two............What do these folks feed their dogs & cats ?????????????

I am closing my eyes and trying to "picture" their ideal world...................

And why push for more GMO vegetables ?
All of them upset my body to the point of anaphalactic shock...soy, wheat, some corn, barely, malt, etc.
Any GMO.....very obvious to me that GMo foods are not nice to the immunal system, so how DO we feed the new droves of Vegie folk (if say, even half of the US population suddenly went vagetarian ) ???????????????

Manure has to come from someplace.
