Is this avian flu? We are in Brevard County Florida. It happened over night. And I have watched him swell more and more this morning. I wasn't home yesterday to notice anything. My boyfriend had him in bed already. He has been in a couple scuffles with our other rooster recently. Also, I recently took a bird from a lady and it was ill(very skinny and out of it) so I made her come get

him. Any more questions I will answer what I know. I just want to get some opinions quickly. What can I do to alleviate the swelling? What should I do in general? He feels like a water balloon. I don't want to cause any more damage.

He just let out a weak crow for the first time today. And also, he does feel hot. He's not panting. He is alert but not himself.

I don't know any of this myself but OSHA lists this for poultry workers to know if they see a sick bird:
Signs of Avian Flu Illness in Birds
Sudden death; lack of energy, appetite and coordination; purple discoloration and/or swelling of various body parts; diarrhea; nasal discharge; coughing; sneezing; and reduced egg production and/or abnormal eggs.

Do you have a vet?

I'm so sorry. Have you checked him over for any injuries? It's understandable that you're concerned about HPAI, especially considering his swelling. Are you noticing any color change in his head or legs and feet? Has he been eating? HPAI generally causes death in a lot of chickens quickly. Just in case, be sure that you are taking measures to protect yourself. It's advised to not handle a bird with suspected HPAI, so until the experts come along to help, I wouldn't handle him until they advise more.

No vet. I haven't ever had a need for one. His legs look a little pale.. he has a little darkness on the back of his comb. I mean, when I left yesterday he was fine. He did stop terrorizing my big boy yesterday. He has been pecked and bit a couple times recently and the rest of his boo boos are from him being neurotic and trying to bust his way out of an enclosure we had him in since we added the new bird. He's trying to act normal but he is waddling he's so swollen and he's just making weak little noises if any..

All the injuries are superficial as far as I know. He got pecked on the head a couple times I'm sure but someone is always here to break it up before anything happens. I'm more tore up than either bird.
