Interesting! They aren't listed as being in the assortment, but they do have the open-ended statement of 'and other rare offerings' . . .They arrived a bit lethargic, but I gave them some vitamins and they perked right up and they are very -fast-. . .even for chicks. And yes, seem extremely skittish. So I may have guessed right on those. I hope they will do alright with mountain winters. They are much smaller than the other chicks, but I guess that is normal.
Fayoumi s don’t do well in freezing temps. They do well in the heat.

A couple of group pics three weeks along now. Still don’t know what most of them are. The feather footed one I thought was a blue Cochin....not even sure of that now. They are all growing fine, although some have a lot more tail feathers than others. They got a second lamp today as the weather turned abruptly quite chilly. The fayoumis seem very disgruntled about the cooler temperatures. They look unhappy.

About the second chick that was difficult to identify....what does she look like now? Any spangles? What comb type? :)
Come to think of it, the barred chick looks to be a Cuckoo Marans. Chicks of this breed can have a darker cast to their legs, from what I see.
Your Fayoumis will be perfectly fine. :D I live in Northern Ohio, where winter temps can dip into the negatives, and mine don't even bat an eye. I find it to be a hardy breed.
The red light makes it a bit hard to tell what exactly you have. :)

the one in the second picture, just to left of center is one of the brown chicks. It LOOKs like it has spangles, although not evenly distributed. There is little white spots on her. The one a little further right, also preening is the other brown one (I think they are the same thing, whatever they are) That one has some white spots developing, but not as many. When it's not so cold and gusty I'll catch them individually and get better pics.

the one front and slightly right in the third picture is what I thought was a blue cochin, but it's not I don't think. . .I don't know what it is, it doesn't look like a brahma chick, and it doesn't look like a blue cochin chick and it does not look like the laced cochin chicks they have listed as part of this assortment. ... But it has feathered legs. Another one is coming in with barred pattern, and is a straight comb, so I think possibly a cuckoo maran just maybe. barred rocks aren't part of the assortment. But there is a meal maker in there that I think might be a barred rock. They have me scratching my head. The blue orpington (which was identified with a band) and the lavender orpingtons are easy to pick out, and the black copper marans are easy too, and they are much larger than the rest of the chicks.

One of the Fayoumi's seems to be an instigator and seems to like to pick fights.

When spangled birds are first feathering in, the spangles are generally concentrated on the chest area. :) Since she doesn't look anything like a Speckled Sussex, I'd tend to agree with an above poster: Swedish Flower Hen. There seems to be no end of variety for this breed!
I see what you mean, looks much like a Light Brahma, but that is disproven by the green/slate legs. Very confusing! I guess we'll have to let her mature a little more.
Could be mistaken, but do I see a light, reddish pullet in the group? I'm thinking THAT'S your meal maker. :)
Fayoumis are stinkers. ;)
