You know I love your Delawares. I didn't even put mine on my list because they aren't nearly as nice as yours.

Thanks Ann, I bet yours are nice too. I know your orps sure are.

are Delawares rare?
I have this roo, who I put pics on the 'what breed is this' thread, and they appear to be Delaware... I say 'they' as they were SUPPOSED to be some brown egg laying hen pullets, banty's from a friend's MIL... a trade for a pony...
and they were all roo's...
I just wondered what they are....
I gave two away as they were fighting, but have one...
so, shall I get him a hen delaware?
is it worth keeping him? I was going to give him away, a friend asked for a roo this week...

the roo in question...
Delaware?
the woman (I'm told) raises and shows her Bantams in Oregon

I think good quality Delaware's are rare. Hatcheries sell them but they often don't look any where near the standard.

I AM interested, but it would be better for me if it occured in a few weeks the only birds other than quail laying regularly here in the frozen north are my swans.

You have swans laying in extreme cold? I've never been around any but I would of thought they were like other waterfowl like ducks and laid in seasons.

Very interesting...

They are black swans and I think that they lay now because their native land is Australia & aren't their season's opposite ours?

Yes, you need to get him a hen. According to the American Livestock Breeds Conservancy, Delaware are listed as Critical.

It looks like you are adding people to the first page with the breeds they have. I have pure Black Jersey Giants (pictures in my link) and I am looking for some Red Bourbon Turkey eggs if anyone has them and is willing to trade.

I can do 6 Black Copper Marans.and I put 8 eggs in the incubator 10 days ago and candle 7 babies so the ferialty is good and I want Blue Lace Red Wyandottes thanks

I wish I still had my Sultan bantam rooster I would be on this one but his feet got chewed of and have a 3 week old rooster have 5 months to go unless I find another before then!

I would like to join the list also. I will be a while before everyone is laying well, but when they are, I will be happy to join in. I have Welsummers, BLRW, Seramas, American Buffs & American Blue geese that would fall into the rare category. I also have some buff sebrights but only ended up with one pullet and she is old enough to lay yet.
