I ordered the rare/standard assortment from Tractor Supply last week and they arrived today! Generally pleased with it. The chicks arrived packaged well and in good shape except one with the worst case of pasty butt that I’d ever seen. It’s all cleaned up now and doing well. The down side - there isn’t much of an assortment and I think I got more standard than rare.

There are definitely 3 naked necks.
This is the pasty butt chick. It’s almost small enough to be bantam sized.

Then there are four Buff Orpington? I’m not super sure with these guys. The lighting makes then look a bit yellow, but when you put them beside the Turken chick you can clearly see they aren’t.

Then 3 of these guys. Jersey Giants? Some blue/green Egger combo? One hoped for Marans, but one does not think they are Marans. None are dark enough to be black, each one is slightly lighter than the last, with one being much lighter than the other two.

Nice chicks!

I dont see any jersey giants, but not sure on what you have bc many chicks look similar at such young age. Who has feathered legs? That is one attribute that will help narrow down the breeds.

Thanks! None have feathered legs.

Alright as we sit, I think I have 4 Buff Orphingtons, 3 White Jersey Giants, and 3 Naked Necks.

Those feet look yellow right? Looks less yellow in person, but yellow-ish. They also seem to be feathering out white.

I also like to guess sex early on based on the wing and tail feathers. I think all three of the giants are pullets, 3 of the 4 buffs are cockerels, and I have yet to determine on the NN. One of the Buffs has significantly longer wings than the others.

The Giant wings are all quite long.

The NN wings are all tiny, even in comparison to the other birds. So possibly all Roos or possibly something to do with being less than wonderful at flying.

If the guesses hold true, 4 pullets out a straight run of ten. Not horrible odds, but I’m glad these are all dual purpose birds.

Updates, week 1:
We lost one of the presumed Buff Orphingtons a few days in. I assume from shipping stress. The rest are doing well.
By feather development I’m still leaning toward 1 pullet.

Two cockerels.

The presumed White Jersey Giants I think are all pullets.

I’m still not sure with the Naked Necks. I think possibly 1 pullet

and 2 cockerels, but these guys are still stumping me. It would be a nice, even ratio if it worked out like that though.

Personality wise, the Jersey Giants are front runners of this group. I am enjoying seeing the NN colors develop.

Week 2 update:
One of the WJG may have fooled me. We are beginning to be suspicious.

We will see how it goes, but that little comb is not looking promising, especially when compared to the other two.

Still thinking possibly two cockerels and one pullet on the Buffs.

NN still possibly 1 pullet and 2 cockerels. One I think is a definite boy.

I could be persuaded on this one either way still.

I think pullet on the last.

It’s been fun watching them grow and trying to guess. Excited for what they will look like next week!
