One of my 10 week old chicks developed a raspy chirp a few days ago. It’s the white/black one - Sunshine.
Besides that all behaviors and eating is normal. Is this unusual ? Something I need to be concerned about?

Is she doing it constantly, like every breath, or just when she vocalizes?
Could be a bit of feed stuck in her throat from eating too fast.
Or could be her voice is starting to change.

Only when she vocalizes. when they are quiet, I don’t see her gasping

Sorry - my app keeps crashing.

So, I don’t see discomfort or gasping when they are all sitting around quiet, so it’s only when vocalizing.

Her voice may be changing from chick sounds to 'big chicken' sounds.
They often sound like ducks to me during that time, it kinda cracks me up.
Ok, thank you! Yes, that’s what my first thought was. It sounds more like a little duck! 😂😂
I don’t remember my older girls going through this change. Does this mean not all of them noticeably change?

Thank you for your reply

Hey there, I have a 3-4 week old chick who has had a raspy chirp since we brought her home. She purrs quite a bit as well and even that is raspy. See clip for example.
